Helio Garcia, a dedicated member of the department for more than six years, died early Wednesday morning after being rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital with critical injuries.

Several trees were seen blocking roads and, in some cases, completely obstructing driveways along Vaughn Road and Westwood Drive near Griffin. Some of the trees were also found lying across power lines.

The state operations center is activated, and Kemp declared a State of Emergency to mobilize any needed resources to address potential impacts. The emergency order also authorizes up to 250 Georgia National Guard troops if needed both before and after the storm.
