The Red Raiders beat No. 18 Arizona 9-3 Sunday at Dan Law Field/Rip Griffin Park for their third Big 12 series victory of the season. The two teams split a doubleheader the day before with Tech winning 12-3 and losing 2-1. The 2025 NFL draft concluded with two former Texas Tech football players being picked. On Friday night, the Las Vegas Raiders took offensive lineman Caleb Rogers in the third round, and on Saturday the Cincinnati Bengals chose running back Tahj Brooks in the sixth round. Rogers went with the 98th overall pick, Brooks with the 193rd. As soon as the draft ends, the dash begins for teams to scoop up undrafted free agents.

Mr. Irrelevant, the tag given annually to the last player taken in the NFL draft, has never been a Texas Tech football player. But in the 2025 NFL draft, it's player who spent his first three college seasons with the Red Raiders. The New England Patriots used the 257th and last pick this year on Memphis cornerback Kobee Minor, who played for Texas Tech from 2020-22 before transferring and spending one season each at Indiana and Memphis. Minor signed with the Red Raiders out of Lake Dallas.

One of the forgotten elements of Tahj Brooks' football journey is the fact he was committed to Tulsa for a nine-month stretch from 2018 into 2019. The running backs coach for the Golden Hurricane then is the running backs coach for the Cincinnati Bengals now. Justin Hill finally got his man. Brooks switched his pledge in June 2019, became a prolific rusher for the Texas Tech football team and the Bengals chose him Saturday in the sixth round of the NFL draft.
