The basketball transfer portal window is now closed, so it's time to take a deep dive into where things stand for the Texas Tech basketball team as the Red Raiders move toward the 2025-26 season. Grant McCasland has had great success in his first two years as head coach, leading the Red Raiders to the Elite Eight of the 2025 NCAA Tournament and coming minutes away from a berth in the Final Four. Now, McCasland is looking to keep that momentum going into Year 3.

Tuesday's home games for the Texas Tech baseball and softball teams have been canceled due to potential inclement weather. The baseball team was scheduled to host Abilene Christian while the softball team was set to welcome North Texas to Lubbock for a pair of non-conference matchups. Texas Tech baseball played its Monday game at Abilene Christian. Wednesday's softball game against UT-Arlington is also on for now, though Tech athletics said it will monitor the weather for that game as well.

The Texas Tech basketball team has its second member of the 2025 high school recruiting class. The Red Raiders earned a commitment from Nolan Groves out of Orono, Minnesota, Saturday night. Groves announced his commitment on Instagram. Groves joins fellow Class of 2025 recruit Marial Akuentok, though Akuentok reclassified to join the Red Raiders for the second semester and took a redshirt for the 2024-25 season. Listed at 6-foot-5, 200-pound guard by 247Sports, Groves is an unranked prospect.
