U.S. Representative Val Hoyle will team up with Senator Jeff Merkley for a series of town halls in Southern Oregon on April 15, giving constituents in Curry, Coos, and Douglas counties a chance to engage directly with their federal lawmakers. The day kicks off in Brookings at 10 a.m. at the Southwestern Oregon Community College’s Curry Campus, followed by an afternoon townhall at 2:30 p.m. in North Bend at the Community Center.

The Glide Veterans Memorial is now accepting applications to honor Douglas County veterans by adding their names to the community’s red brick memorial wall. The engraved wall, located at the Glide Community Center, features nearly 500 names and serves as a tribute to local service members. Veterans, or their families, who served honorably in any branch of the U.S. military and who either enlisted from or currently reside in Douglas County, are eligible. Applications are open until June 30.
BLM announces dates for camping season

the Bureau of Land Management’s Roseburg District has announced the opening dates for its 2025 camping season. Susan Creek Campground will open first on Monday, April 14, while other sites like Eagleview Group, Cavitt Creek and Scaredman will open throughout May. The Tyee Campground remains open year-round, though some sites operate on a seasonal schedule. Sites at Eagleview Group, Susan Creek, Cavitt Creek and the Tyee pavilion must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance.
