    WEED, Calif. – The grandmother of a 5-year-old who passed away after being swept away in the Klamath River last week is speaking. Laurie Rice, who lives in Weed, said her daughter, her daughter’s partner and their 5-year-old son, Jameson were heading to the coast. But they stopped along the Klamath River in the Seiad Valley area in Northern California. Rice described Jameson as a happy-go-lucky kid who enjoyed games and spending time with his family.

    ASHLAND, Ore. – Last week, the Oregon Health Authority issued a ‘recreational use advisory’ for Emigrant Lake due to concerns over toxic algae, but the Talent Irrigation District (TID) and Jackson County Parks said there’s zero data indicating harmful algae blooms in the lake. The OHA has been warning folks of cyanobacteria blooms, advising against swimming and high-speed water activities. Emigrant Lake is one of the water sources for the TID.

    ROGUE RIVER, Ore. – Kids and teens in Rogue River will soon have more access to medical and mental health services. Thanks to a partnership between La Clinica and the Rogue River School District a new health center is set to open inside the district’s Early Learning Center this fall. Starting in September, the La Clinica Rogue River Health Center will serve youth ages 2 to 18. The Early Learning Center, located at 225 Oak Street, is currently under construction.
