(WXOW) - All this week we're getting to know a little more about the contestants competing to lead the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra to open the May 3 concert, while raising money for local nonprofits. The Conductor Wannabe contest features six contestants representing five different local groups. Each contestant or team is looking for your votes or donations: half of which will go to the LSO, and the other half goes to the nonprofit represented by the contestant.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - It's not too late to join the "Minutes in Motion" challenge, a free community program in La Crosse encouraging residents to get active and improve their health. Participants are encouraged to engage in at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day, five days a week, over a six-week period. Findings from the American Heart Association show that increased activity can lower the risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and even dementia.
