UNION COUNTY, Ky. (WEVV) — Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced that Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) is available for residents in six Kentucky counties impacted by severe storms in May. President Trump approved Gov. Beshear's request for a major disaster declaration on May 23, which includes aid for Caldwell, Laurel, Pulaski, Russell, Trigg, and Union counties. "This assistance is critical for those unable to work due to the storm's impact," Gov. Beshear said.

WEBSTER COUNTY, Ky. (WEVV) — Two paving projects are now underway in Webster County. A contractor began milling operations on U.S. 41A in Dixon on Wednesday. This project aims to resurface nearly three miles of roadway from Jim Villines Road to Tapp Lane. Weather permitting, the road is expected to be paved on Friday. In addition, work on KY 56 in Sebree is scheduled to start Friday. Crews will be milling the highway from just west of North Street to the intersection of KY 56 and U.S. 41.

WASHINGTON, Ind. (WEVV) — A Washington man was arrested by the Indiana State Police's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit for distributing and possessing child pornography. 42-year-old Chad Cooper was taken into custody following a search of his residence on May 28. A detective initiated the investigation in March 2025, identifying Cooper as a suspect through various investigative techniques.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — An arrest has been made in connection to a deadly home invasion in Evansville. According to the Evansville Police Department, Jaylen Drone was located and interviewed Tuesday night about the incident that happened on May 13th at a home on Sweetser Ave. EPD says Drone was then charged with Murder and Robbery. The shooting killed 22-year-old Mekhi Maxwell. 44News is working to learn more details surrounding Drone's arrest.
