The New Quay RNLI teams launched in response to a series of incidents off the Ceredigion coast, beginning on Friday, May 23. The first callout came at 7.30pm to assist a sailor in distress aboard a 33-foot yacht around three miles north of Cardigan Island. Daniel Potter, coxswain at New Quay RNLI, said: "Having assessed the situation, we decided that the safest course of action was to tow the 33ft yacht to New Quay, the nearest safe haven.

The Torch Theatre in Milford Haven has launched a county-wide competition to celebrate the unsung heroes of the school canteen as part of its Youth Theatre’s upcoming summer production, The Bangers and Chips Explosion. The show, which runs from July 21 to 23, is a comedy based on the children’s novel by Brough Girling and centres on a dinner lady who refuses to serve chips at St Gertrude’s Primary School, sparking a student strike.
