Neyland Town Council and Pembrokeshire County Council have reached an agreement for a five-year funding plan. This support means the library, which opened in June 2021 and currently has 13 hours of staffed opening per week, will remain unchanged.

Streetlights in Newport are set to power electric vehicles. Work is starting this week to install 98 new electric vehicle charging points across the city. The charging points will be added to existing streetlights on streets where houses have no access to off-street parking, such as a driveway or garage. They will be among the first streetlight-style charging points in Wales. The points, which are type 2 connections, will be installed by Urban Fox.

A Newport care home has become the highest paying in Wales. Aria Care Home, in Malpas, has made headlines by offering all care staff a minimum of £15.50 an hour, significantly above the industry norm. The landmark pay rise, which took effect this month, marks the third major wage increase at the award-winning home in two years. In 2023, Aria implemented a 30 per cent boost that put its staff more than 20 per cent ahead of the Real Living Wage, the legal requirement for care workers in Wales.

Llantwit Major Leisure Centre’s changing rooms and toilets have been fully refurbished, with new water-saving showers and low-energy lighting now in place. A new high performance, energy efficient air handling unit has also been installed at the centre, which is designed to keep the pool area and changing rooms warm and dry all year.
