Just three months away, the 49th annual Red River Revel in Shreveport promises new experiences and Revel favorites during new weekend dates for 2025. The Red River Revel 2025 will be held over two consecutive weekends, for four days each from Thursday to Sunday. Previously the Revel was held over a nine-day period from a Saturday to the following Sunday. This year's dates are September 25 through 28 and October 2 through 5.

You can hardly go through a drive-thru for under $10 these days, much less dine at a nice restaurant. So I was pleasantly surprised at lunch one day to stumble upon the pizza menu at the Library on Fern in Shreveport where my bill was $10.36 before tip for a 10-inch hand-made dough pizza and an iced tea. Granted my 6 ft.

MovieMaker Magazine has included Louisiana Film Prize in Shreveport on the annual international list of "50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee."The entry fee — in this case — is the one paid by moviemakers to submit films to film festivals. "I will tell you that I am absolutely blown away to be on the MovieMaker list. And it's kind of a dream come true," Gregory Kallenberg said. "But it's not just a dream come true for me," he said.

Sunflower selfies, live music, arts and crafts and more are what's in store this weekend just north of Shreveport-Bossier. The 26th annual Sunflower Festival will be held in Gilliam, La., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, and you can stop and see the fields of sunflowers as you drive along the Boom or Bust Highway 3049. The sunflowers are planted by farmers and residents.
