DeWitt, NY - Tops Friendly Markets is closing its store in DeWitt, ending a run of more than 40 years at that location. Store employees said the store will close April 25. The Tops store at 4410 E. Genesee St. is one of the smallest Tops operations in the area. At one point, the store tried to expand but couldn’t acquire the property needed to do so. It is located next to Moses DeWitt Elementary School. Tops opened a gas station at 4600 E. Genesee St., just down the road, in 2011. That will remain open.
