NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) — The wildfire that has been burning on the Croatan National Forest has reached new containment levels. The fire has reached 70% containment and is staying at 950 acres. “With containment, we had 60% since a few days ago, which has been great. But they were able to kind of continue out that line of an area where the fire is cold,” Public Information Officer for Black Swamp, Mary Grace Bedwell said. “It’s no longer burning, it’s safe to touch.
