Restaurateur Mike de Alwis moved his family to Puyallup in 2010, opening the Bourbon Street Creole Kitchen & Bar in 2013 and, more recently, Chez Lafayette Creole Brasserie in Tacoma. Originally from Sri Lanka, the entrepreneur attended college in Lafayette, Louisiana. Eventually moving to New Orleans, with several businesses under his belt, he moved back to the place where he grew up for about a decade before finally making a home in the PNW.
