(Iowa City, IA) -- The Iowa City landfill will soon have new Saturday hours. Beginning Saturday, January 11th, the landfill will close at noon every Saturday following. Monday through Friday, hours will continue to be 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The city says the new hours will help increase operational efficiency and improve regulatory compliance with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The new hours will affect some of the services at the landfill.

The rink will be 4,000 square feet larger than the city's temporary Frozen Landing Ice Rink and will offer new features to elevate the skating experience. Construction on the $20 Million project began in 2023 and will be officially open from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 15, on World Ice Skating Day.

(Iowa) -- The Iowa Department of Transportation is still looking for snow plow drivers for this winter. The DOT says their maintenance garages across the state are in need of temporary winter help that includes driving snow plows and other maintenance tasks. Those interested in applying must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or Commercial Learners Permit (CLP) upon hire.

The Sheriff's Office says the burglaries took place between November 28th and 30th in rural communities, and describes the suspects as slender, in their early 20s, wearing dark clothing and ski masks.

Ottumwa Police say they responded to numerous calls regarding the welfare of the dogs at the home of 49-year-old Stephanie Warner and 40-year-old Travis Warner. Investigators say the dogs were found in poor health, including not being fed and not being provided medical treatment.
