HARRISBURG — A bill that would benefit first-time homebuyers easily cleared the Pennsylvania House on Monday, advancing a proposal seeking to establish a tax-deductible savings program. State representatives voted 183-20 in support of House Bill 818, sending the measure to the state Senate for further consideration. The First-time Homebuyer Savings Account Program was reintroduced by Rep. Ryan Bizzarro, D-Erie, for the 2025-26 session.

HARRISBURG — High school equivalency exams will be made free of charge under certain conditions on a first-come, first-served basis, the Pennsylvania Department of Education announced Monday. The Shapiro administration made $2 million available for the full battery of GED and HiSET exams, allowing Pennsylvanians to complete the exams at no cost specifically when they’re taken at non-restricted public testing sites or when taking the exam online.
