Meghan and Mark’s relationship was more love at first sight than slow burn. Within a couple of months, they knew. The proposal was in Meghan’s flower and veggie garden, near where her grandfather kept horses and the couple often strolled. Afterward, the two wanted to do what they loved most: be near the water. In a decidedly non-traditional twist, they turned a faux engagement party into a surprise wedding reception aboard a luxurious 46-foot catamaran on the Rappahannock River.

Sun filtered through centuries-old trees as lush gardens blossomed by the Potomac River. There was no better place for nature-loving couple Margaret Platner and Joseph Franco to have their June wedding than River Farm, just outside of Old Town Alexandria where they first met. Love flowed—and so did the Champagne. A fine bottle of bubbly, gifted from the matron of honor as an engagement present, and the best man’s Champagne saber made for a perfect combination.
