    Star Plastics Inc. has blazed trails for others to follow in Ravenswood, W. Va.On May 12, Star Plastics Trails was dedicated in Ravenswood. The area includes walking and biking trails to enhance recreation in town, Star officials said on a LinkedIn post. "The trails are named in honor of the hard-working and dedicated employees at Star Plastics," they added. Star founder Doug Ritchie cut a ribbon at the event to open the trails.

    Vinmar International LLC will globally distribute polypropylene resin made at a plant opened in Nigeria by Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals. In a news release, officials with both firms said distribution of the material outside of Africa will be done through the Premier Product Marketing LLC unit of Houston-based Vinmar. Dangote PRP is a unit of Dangote Industries Ltd. of Lagos, Nigeria. Dangote is in the startup phase of PP production at the plant in Lekki.

    Nova Chemicals Corp. officially commissioned its first polyethylene film recycling plant on May 22 in Connersville, Ind. The facility, called Syndigo 1, is "one of the largest and most sophisticated" plastic film mechanical recycling facilities in the world, officials with Calgary-based Nova said in a news release. The plant covers 450,000 square feet and will recycle 145,000 bales of end-of-life plastic film to make more than 100 million pounds of Syndigo-brand recycled linear low density PE.
