DICKINSON COUNTY, Kan. (KWCH) - Driving west on Interstate 70 near mile marker 275, north of Abilene, sits a billboard with a purpose. “Real Kansans. Real Voters. Real Fed Up.,” it reads. The billboard’s designer, Julie Cates said a local Political Action Committee called “PUSH” (People United for Safety and Health) came to her with an idea. Cates said the woman leading PUSH had a request. “[She] said, ‘Would you please think about designing something for us for this billboard?’” Cates recalled.

Dozens more were found dead on the property in north-central Kansas. Among the agencies stepping up is the Hutchinson Animal Shelter. On Friday, the shelter provided a behind-the-scenes look at the work going into building trust with the dogs and getting as many as possible on the path to rehabilitation.
