MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The MSCS board of education say they intend to participate in a provision in Tennessee’s Education Freedom Act which would grant all K-12 educators a bonus check of $2000. The provision requires local school districts to adopt a resolution affirming the district would like to participate in the provision in order to receive the bonuses. Every school board member has sponsored the resolution, introduced in Tuesday’s work session meeting.

COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. (WMC) - Shelby County Sheriff’s Office shared the results of the toxicology reports of a woman who died after driving into a retention pond. The results confirm she was not drugged after having drinks at Casa Mexicana in Collierville. Chief Deputy Anthony Buckner says 35-year-old Kristen Fundo’s death was caused by possible drowning, with acute ethanol intoxication contributing to her impairment while driving.

MARION, Ark. (WMC) - A man in Marion was charged with disorderly conduct after a heated encounter with the city’s police chief, who was blocking the roads while floodwaters were rising rapidly. That man now says he was wrongfully arrested and will fight for his case in court. Robert Mettler says he was driving home from visiting family on Saturday, April 5, as flooding began to cover the streets.
