A local indie band that has performed at the biggest festival in the north of Scotland is returning to its roots on the weekend after next. ‘Power pop’ five-some, Be Like Pablo (BLP), are lining up alongside covers specialists Tony Hawk’s Pro Soundsystem at The Carlton from 7pm on Saturday, April 26. BLP lead singer and guitarist, Ewen Watson, is looking forward to more hometown shows, having toured latest album ‘A World Apart’ across the north last summer.

More young players at the town’s biggest football club are being kitted out thanks to a generous donation from a local music group. Forres Country Music Club has donated £250 to the under-10s at Forres Mechanics FC - AKA the ‘Mini Cans’ - to be invested in new football strips. Head of youth development, Allan Frisken, is delighted to see further backing from the community.

A plan to provide a rural village with recreational facilities on the site of two derelict buildings is being held up by red tape. Last November, Dallas Community Development Trust applied to demolish an unused shop and house to build a fenced pitch, area with outdoor gym equipment and parking space.

Calls are being made for road safety measures to be introduced on a housing estate before it’s too late. Mannachie Rise Residents Association (MRRA) member, Dave Brown, told attendees at the last meeting of Forres Community Council about traffic issues between Sanquhar and Mannachie Road. A very special 140-year-old Forres resident is taking part in a design event in the Netherlands. Nancy - an automaton with 16 different movements owned by The House of Automata at 32 High Street - has been loaned for six months to Design Museum Den Bosch. Michael Start runs the shop with his wife Maria and their son Hector. He explained: “Nancy will be a working exhibit in the ‘Women as Technology’ exhibition with female robots from Japan and America.
