House Bill 1172, which cleared the House Judiciary Committee by just one vote, is a follow-up to legislation the General Assembly passed on the last day of last year’s session.

    The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left one man wounded Wednesday afternoon in the 3400 block of Houston Avenue in Macon. The incident was called in to the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center at 4:18 p.m., according to a news release. When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered a 28-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics provided medical treatment before transporting the victim to a medical facility.

    The Bibb County Sheriff Office has arrested two men in connection with a burglary at a Macon warehouse. The break-in occurred Tuesday at California Cereal Products, 4375 Mead Road. Patrol deputies responded to a call to investigate. While in the area, it was reported the suspects had fled into a wooded area. A patrol sergeant pursued the suspects and apprehended them. Arrested were Joseph Seth Sheriff and Johnny Frank Larson, who face burglary and other charges.

    Someone in South Macon got quite a surprise when they discovered a dead man inside their chimney. Bibb County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a home in the 1000 block of Courtland Ave., just after 9 p.m Friday night. There deputies were informed that the body of an unidentified man was discovered inside of the chimney of the home. Bibb County Fire Department was called to assist in removing the deceased male from the chimney.
