AN Easter Commemoration will take place again this year on the steps of Tullamore Courthouse in front of the old veterans memorial on Easter Sunday morning, April 20 at 12pm. The commemoration is to honour Offaly men and women who participated in the Easter Rising, the War of Independence and the Civil War. This year will be the third year to hold the event and it is getting more popular each year said organisers Brenda and Odran Condron.

A man who has given almost seven decades service to traditional music and Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann in Offaly has been honoured. Birr's Padraig O Dufaigh was presented with the Unsung Hero of Offaly Award by the Offaly Association (Dublin) at a ceremony in Tullamore last weekend.

Enthusiast Geraldine Mahon, a regular at Mountlucas parkrun, recently completed her 150th parkrun. There are a number of parkruns throughout the midlands but amazingly, Geraldine has completed all 150 of her parkruns at Mountlucas parkrun. Geraldine, who lives in Walsh Island, is most often seen completing the parkrun in the company of her good friend Rita Corcoran.
