    Should health systems tell patients when they’re using AI? UC San Diego Health says yes. The health system uses a generative AI tool from Epic that drafts MyChart patient portal messages for providers. But UC San Diego Health notifies patients when the responses are drafted by AI with the disclosure: “Part of this message was generated automatically and was reviewed and edited by [name of physician],” according to a May 9 NEJM AI article.

    Columbus-based OhioHealth is moving newly acquired hospitals onto its Epic EHR so the health system can be on a unified platform. The latest hospital to switch to Epic is Cambridge-based OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center, which went live May 5 with the new EHR after being acquired in 2023. As part of a $29.1 million investment in IT upgrades, the hospital also got new network infrastructure and moved to Workday for human resources, supply chain and finance and Kronos for payroll.

    An Indiana health system says the data of 263,000 individuals was affected when Oracle Health was hacked in early 2025. Terre Haute-based Union Health started notifying affected individuals in April that it had been contacted earlier in the year by an unauthorized party claiming to be in possession of patient data and determined the incident originated with Oracle Health. Oracle Health told the health system it experienced a hack in its data migration environment sometime after Jan.

The health system will serve as a national medical center for athletes who live and train in Colorado Springs, Colo., where an Olympic & Paralympic Training Center is located near UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central.
