Robin Miller had been expecting a low-key day for the show at Newton House Care Home in Newton Mearns. People, however, started turning up in their crowds, including his awestruck daughter Abigail Walker, who travelled up from England, cousins Harry and Nancy Jackson from Ayr, and even a former neighbour.

Smash West will be serving up 100 burgers a day on a first come, first served basis from 6pm to 10pm every Thursday to Sunday. The approach of the eatery is “no waste, no second chances”. The restaurant is located in same place on Great Western Road as brunch spot Urban West which opens through the week from 9am to 4pm.

East Renfrewshire Council says that to ensure your garden waste is collected from May 1, you should purchase your 2025/26 permit by April 14. Garden waste collections will only start once the new permit is on your brown bin. A spokesperson for the council said: “The price of the permit will remain at £52.20.

    Investigation underway after break-in at property (Image: Newsquest) An investigation is underway after a report of a break in at a property near Glasgow. Police were alerted this morning to the incident on Castle Avenue in Elderslie. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.35am on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, we received a report of a break-in to a property on Castle Avenue, Elderslie, Johnstone. “Enquiries are at an early stage and ongoing.”
