NTSB releases preliminary report on crash that killed Cazenovia man

RED HOOK, NY (WSYR-TV) — The NTSB has filed a preliminary report following a crash that killed a Cazenovia man. It was on October 5, Coughlin was piloting a homebuilt Fokker D.VIII replica fighter plane during an airshow at the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. The report states that not long into its 10 minute demonstration flight, the Gnome 9N rotary engine began to run rough.

The hospital’s auxiliary “Lighting the Way” is to remember healthcare professionals who work around the clock. The hospital lit up Prospect Hill Circle and the bridge in honor of their colleagues, patients, and important people in our lives who have passed away.

UPDATE 11-02-2024 AT AROUND 1:30 P.M. In an update from the Tompkins County Department of Emergency Response, they said as of 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, that fire personnel were able to get the fire under control. Crews remained at the scene for a while after to take care of a few remaining hotspots. Emergency Response said the area affected was eight to ten acres between the 1300 block of East Shore Drive and the 900 block of Cayuga Heights Road. Homes in the area were not impacted.

ITHACA N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Fire departments in Tompkins County are battling a big brush fire just outside Ithaca. A viewer sent us this drone footage, from along the east side of Cayuga Lake near East Shore Drive. Courtesy of Joe Scaglione Photography. 911 dispatchers told NewsChannel 9 that the call first went out around 7:30 p.m. on Friday. At least seven area departments are battling the fire.
Two firefighters recieve minor burns from a house fire in Manlius

MANLIUS, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Fire crews rushing to the scene of a house fire in Manlius. 911 dispatchers tell NewsChannel 9 the call went out just after 4:30 p.m. Saturday for a house fire along Creekcrest Circle not far from Enders Road. When crews arrived — heavy smoke and flames were pouring from the second floor of the home. No one was home at the time and Manlius fire crews tell us two of their people suffered very minor burns and were treated on scene. No one else was hurt.
