The company just purchased the former House on the Hill and Watermark Restaurant, both on South Erie Street in Mayville. The House on the Hill was last open in 2019 while the Watermark was last open in 2022.

Of the seven homicides that occurred in Chautauqua County in 2024, five of them have arrests. MARLON CLAYOn Jan. 24, Marlon Clay, 28, of Buffalo was discovered deceased at Parkview Apartments in Jamestown. He had been shot to death and his body was left there.

    By Gregory [email protected] incentives for two new solar projects in the town of Dunkirk are under consideration. During the recent Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency meeting, the board of directors was presented a plan regarding a 5 megawatt project and a 4.8 megawatt project. The two solar projects would be placed on about 56.8 acres of land at 3761 East Lake Road. Construction for the solar project is expected to cost around $22,361,000.

During the legislature's Public Facilities Committee meeting, members heard about a proposal to spend $20,000 to assist the North Chautauqua County Water District pursuing connecting the village of Fredonia.

    By GREGORY [email protected] – Chautauqua County officials have either set or readjusted the salary grades for a handful of positions in the county. COUNTY HISTORIAN During the recent legislature meeting, county lawmakers determined the salary of the county historian to be a flat salary of $30,000 annually. The proposal was not discussed during the full legislature meeting, but during committee discussions, officials explained the change.
