ELLICOTTVILLE — The Ellicottville Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Ellicottville Memorial Library, 6499 Maples Road. The speaker for this month is Ellen Frank, town historian, who will give a presentation on the Battle of Lexington and Concord. The historic battle recently celebrated its 250th anniversary as the start of the Revolutionary War. The meeting is free and open to all. A short business meeting will take place before the presentation.

OLEAN — A little over five years for one and just under one year for the other, Tuesday marked the final Olean Board of Education meeting for two of its members. Kelly Keller, who was first appointed to the board to fill a vacancy in early 2020 and was elected to her seat later that spring, presided over her final meeting, serving as the board president since last July. Meanwhile, Tatina Warmely, who served as the ex officio student member, also concluded her one year on the board Tuesday.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Aaron Boone still has a couple weeks before deciding who will be the American League’s starting pitcher for the All-Star Game. It could end up being one of his own players. Max Fried became the first pitcher to reach 10 wins this season in the New York Yankees 7-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday night. “It’s down the road. We’ll see. He’s making the case though,” Boone said about Fried’s chances to start the midsummer classic on July 15 in Atlanta.
