At the T-B-T Wichita Regional Thursday night, the Purple and Black won their first-round game outscoring DaGuys 72-59. Marcus Foster and D.J. Johnson led the Purple and Black with 11 points. Thomas Gipson III added 10 points. Purple and Black will play Team Arkansas tonight at 6 pm. The AfterShocks defeated the B1Ballers 66-54. Darral Willis Jr led the AfterShocks with 12 points. Tyrus McGee added 11 points and Caleb Walker added 10 points.

The Detroit Tigers slipped past the Kansas City Royals 3-2 Wednesday night. The Royals scored 2 runs in the 5th. Michael Massey doubled to drive in the first run. Massey would score on a Kyle Isbel double to give the Royals a 2-1 lead. That lead did not last long, Detroit would score 2 runs in the top of the 6th to retake the lead. The Royals and Tigers wrap up their 4 game series Thursday afternoon. Zack Greinke, coming off the injured list, will make the start for the Royals.

At the 113th Kansas Amateur Match Play Championship golf tournament after two rounds of stroke play Emporian Gentry Scheve was tied for 10th at 6 under par. He will be the only Emporia Golfer to advance to match play.

At the TBT regional tournament in Wichita Wednesday, Mass Street – made up of KU players – defeated We Are D3 70-67. Thomas Robinson led the way with a double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds. Mario Little added 17 points and Keith Langford finished with 15 points. Mass Street will play ShowMe – made up of Missouri alumni – Saturday at 3 pm. ShowMe outscored the Vegas Rebellion 96-90. Thursday- The K-State alumni team of Purple and Black plays DaGuys at 6 pm.

The Kansas City Royals held on for an 11-10 win over the Detroit Tigers last night. The Royals scored 5 runs in the 4th inning to take a 7-2 lead and never trailed the rest of the game. Detriot scored 4 runs in the 9th inning to make the end of the game interesting. Dairon Blanco led the offense going 4 for 4 missed hitting for the cycle by a home run. Royals manager Matt Quatraro said it was a special night for Blanco. Maikel Garcia was 2 for 4 with 4 RBI.

The Kansas City Chiefs opened training camp yesterday with rookies, quarterbacks, and selected injured players reporting. Chiefs Coach Andy Reid said it’s time to turn the page and get focused on the upcoming season. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes says repeating as Super Bowl Champion is the goal but it won’t be easy. Coach Reid says they will need to maintain the edge. Mahomes says training camp will be about building and improving. The rest of the team is scheduled to report Saturday.

Play begins at The Basketball Tournament Wichita Regional Wednesday night. The KU Alumni team – Mass Street plays We are D3 at 8 pm at Koch Arena. Mass Street will include former KU players Brandon Rush, Jamari Taylor, Keith Langford, Marcus and Markieff Morris, Mario Chalmers, Mitch Lightfoot, and Thomas Robinson. Kansas States alumni team of Purple and Black plays Thursday at 6 pm against Daguys out of St. Louis.

At the 113th Kansas Amateur Match Play Championship golf tournament Emporian Gentry Scheve was still on the course when first-round play was halted Tuesday. After 9 holes Scheve is at even par. Brooks Sauder finished his first round at plus 1 and is tied for 56th place. Caleb Schmid finished round 1 at plus 4. Round 1 will finish before round 2 begins Wednesday. The 64 lowest scores and ties will advance to match play which begins Thursday.

The Detroit Tigers rallied for a 3-2 win over the Kansas City Royals Monday night. The Royals scored 2 runs in the 4th inning, M J Melendez scored on a Freddy Fermin single, and Fermin scored on a Nick Pratto single to take a 2-0 lead. Jordan Lyles held the Tigers in check for 6 innings. Detroit would score 3 runs in the 8th inning as Jose Cuas gave up a bases-loaded walk followed by a 2 run double. The Royals and Tigers play again Tuesday night.
