The 100 days countdown to the 55-Plus B.C. Games lights up Nanaimo, and that milestone was marked last week with a torch ceremony in the city's downtown. The ceremony was held Thursday, June 19, as part of opening night of the Commercial Street Night Market. Coun. Ian Thorpe, a games board member, told the crowd that the 55-Plus B.C. Games aren't just a sporting competition, but also a tourism driver.
