British Columbia’s Conservation Officer Service said an investigation is underway to find the person who illegally shot and killed a female black bear near Williams Lake, leaving behind five cubs. Conservation officers said the incident took place between May 24 and 25 near the community of Big Lake, northeast of Williams Lake. The agency said in a statement that it received a report on May 26 after a passing motorist saw a black bear carcass and cubs.
