The U.S. Postal Service is inviting esidents throughout Santa Clarita to participate Saturday in the 33rd anniversary of “Stamp Out Hunger,” the “nation’s “largest single-day food drive,” according to a USPS news release. Throughout the past 30 years, 1.9 billion pounds of food have been collected throughout the United States, according to the release.
Artistic chaos leads to inaugural ‘MAYhem Festival’ at CalArts

With live music, art exhibitions and dance recitals, there was no shortage of creative chaos at California Institute of the Arts on Friday night and Saturday. The 45th annual World Music and Dance Festival took place on campus, featuring music from regions such as South Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and West Africa; in addition, the inaugural “MAYhem Festival” was introduced, which was an all-encompassing weekend filled with various artistic showings throughout campus.

Dog fatally struck on McBean Parkway

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies were called to the scene where a dog was fatally struck by a vehicle on McBean Parkway Tuesday afternoon in Valencia, amid online reports that good Samaritans were trying to rescue the dog and pull it from traffic lanes. Deputies were unable to provide additional details regarding the incident. According to Deputy Robert Jensen, spokesman for the station, deputies responded to the incident, which took place south of Skycrest Circle Drive.
Local Leaders Take the Initiative to Raise Service and Guide Dogs

April 30th is International Guide Dog Day and local leaders are being recognized for their efforts in helping foster an inclusive community for all. Among those in the community include Pam English, an area leader for Guide Dogs of America — Tender Loving Canines, who has taken pride in raising 38 puppies throughout her 38 years as a volunteer with the organization. “My husband and I had a couple of little kids, and we had a little border collie of our own.
