Ashby-based Dan Harrison is the new leader of Leicestershire County Council. Reform UK has today (Monday) chosen its new leader for Leicestershire. The party became the biggest group on Leicestershire County Council at the local elections earlier this month, securing 25 of the authority's 55 seats. Its victory meant the end of more than two decades of continuous Conservative leadership in the county. However, the group did not secure enough seats to take overall control of the council.

The Council’s contractor Heidelberg Materials is refurbishing Junction 26 of the M5 along with the A38 Chelston link road near Wellington, built in 1974. Work starts on 16 June and is expected to finish in late September.

An NHS whistleblower was "gaslit" by her superiors in an effort to get her to leave the mental health ward she was working on, a tribunal has heard. Mariam Benaris, who worked for Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) during Covid-19, raised several concerns over patient safety at the Bradgate Unit, which is based at Glenfield Hospital.
