It comes as Wigginton Road is currently closed due to a watermain burst. One Haxby resident, who didn’t want to be named, said their water went off at about 6am and came back on after 10am, but pressure was still low. Yorkshire Water has said that it’s due to a burst water pipe in Wigginton and they are trying to fix the problem but they have no timescale. John Hart, another resident who has been hit, said his supply returned shortly before 10am, but still wasn't back at full strength.

North Yorkshire Police said a bike was stolen just after midnight on Friday (April 11), in High Ousegate near Social 8 bar. A police spokesman said: "We’re particularly appealing for information as to the current whereabouts of the bike and for any witnesses to the theft who can provide information.

Ermal Biba (Image: North Yorkshire Police) FOUR members of an organised crime group (OCG) operating a county lines drugs network in North Yorkshire have been ordered to pay back more than £115,048. Gang leader Ermal Biba, 40, alongside key members of the group, Allaman Tatariku, 37, Klajdi Lleshi, 25, and Adam Sarkowski, 43, were originally sentenced to over 31 years in jail at Leeds Crown Court in August 2023 for conspiring to supply cannabis and cocaine.
