    THE coach of the Nigeria women’s team, Bolu Fagborun, is heading to Australia as he bids to raise the profile of his side and recruit players for this autumn’s World Series. Nigeria are one of four teams who will participate in October’s event in Canada, which involves four clubs and has the reward for the winner of the final spot at the 2026 World Cup. They will play Ireland at Brampton’s Terry Fox Stadium in a semi-final on October 21, with Canada and Fiji also involved.

    FEWER than 1,500 remain for the second Ashes contest at Everton, according to Rugby League Commercial. Australia visit England this autumn for the first Ashes series since 2003 and tickets are said to be selling at record speed. AMT Headingley in Leeds, which will host the final match on November 8, has already sold out. And the new Everton Stadium, which has a capacity of 52,888, is close to doing the same for the clash in Liverpool on November 1.

    HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS prospect Jacob Algar has signed his first professional contract with the club. The forward is yet to make his first-team debut but featured in pre-season and has been named in Huddersfield’s 21-man squad for the clash with Catalans Dragons.
