    HELENA — From Bruin to Bobcat, Hailey Burger made it official Monday by signing a letter of intent to compete for the renowned Montana State rodeo team. Burger will be headed to Bozeman in the fall along with fellow Bruins senior Grace Lenhardt, who also signed her letter of intent to the MSU rodeo team at Capital High School Monday morning.

    HELENA — There will be a new banner hung up at Steed Arena later this month. The Helena Bighorns 14U girls hockey team finished the season by winning the state championship to cap a 21-0 season. The Bighorns claimed the state championship with a 4-1 victory over the Flathead Flames of Kalispell in the finals. The tournament was held in Glasgow.

    HELENA — The NA3HL playoffs started Friday night at Steed Arena where the Helena Bighorns faced off against the Great Falls Americans in the first game of a best-of-three series. The Bighorns cruised to an 6-1 victory. Finn Theriault and Ty Moore made it 2-0 early for the Bighorns. Bighorns goalie Jesse Schindle was all over the ice Friday night, making multiple wild saves against the Americans. The Bighorns would go up 3-0 as Trey Pareja netted a massive slap shot from 30 feet out.

    HELENA — Four Frontier Conference teams will be playing in the NAIA national basketball championships. Both the men's and women's NAIA tournament brackets were released Thursday, and there are two Frontier Conference teams on each side. The Montana Tech men earned a No. 3 seed and will host opening-round games in Butte with tipoff set for March 15. The Orediggers will face No. 14-seeded Wayland Baptist (Texas) in the first round.
