RESERVE A TABLEIn keeping with its location within the Strand’s The Savoy hotel, the staff at Beaufort Bar are effectively suited nannies for people who order at least three martinis a week, and frankly, we love it. As well as bartenders who listen to your cocktail preferences with more patience and care than your average BetterHelp therapist, the setting also acts as a muscle-relaxing sedative by way of midnight black walls and ‘capital-L Luxury’ gold details.

If you ever had a phase as a teenager that caused your parents to place a ban on budget black hair dye from the family bathroom, chances are you’ll be very into Blondies Brewery. It’s Leyton’s very own micro-slice of Reading Festival, only much more ‘night one sun worship and beer-soaked bonding sessions’ than ‘Sunday night arsonist apocalypse’.

The lights are low, the air is thick with the syrupy, caffeinated scent of tiramisu and pheromones, and the excellent cream-centric penne con vodka has the ideal tickle of heat.

The Gate is our first encounter with an all-vegan restaurant that captures the spirit of an art gallery so completely. It’s all white walls, lofty ceilings, patrons with oversized Cubitts perched on their noses, and Rothko smears of pea purée. Despite the allure of the setting and Architectural Digest-subscribed crowd, this Hammersmith stalwart that opened in 1989 rests a little too comfortably on its lentil laurels.
