The event is organized each year by the Hertford County African American History Coalition. Things kicked off at noon with a welcome from Mayor Hal Thomas and a prayer of invocation from Mayor Pro Tem Berna Stephens.

Published 4:42 pm Tuesday, June 17, 2025 JACKSON – The Golden LEAF Foundation recently announced that Northampton County will receive a $1.5 million grant to complete more site work at the county’s Commerce Park. The funds come through Golden LEAF’s SITE Program, which helps communities afford to develop spaces that can host future economic development. There are three parts to the SITE program: identification, due diligence, and development.

The 43rd annual Hertford-Northampton 4-H Livestock Show and Sale was held on June 11 in Murfreesboro. The event is coordinated every year by staff from the North Carolina Cooperative Extension offices of Northampton, Hertford, and Bertie counties.
