ESCAPE THE ORDINARY AT BROOKHAVEN’S TERRA TERROIR!My dining companion looked skeptically around the strip mall parking lot. She’d been promised a celebratory dinner. Here? Doubts vanished inside Brookhaven’s award winning Terra Terroir. “Wow!” she gasped at each turn as we were escorted to a table. Walking past the open kitchen and wooden bar into the covered patio feels like stepping into a secret garden.

DIG INTO FIERY FUN AT ALMA COCINA BUCKHEAD!Among my life philosophies: Everything tastes better in a tortilla. At Alma Cocina Buckhead, I persuaded my husband to split a lunch order of two lechoncito (suckling pig) tacos so we could try other dishes, too. One bite into my taco, I began regretting every bite he took of his. Pork carnitas, onions, cilantro, and salsa verde fill each soft corn tortilla, and chicharron crumble elevated the familiar dish. I craved more, even days later.

RAISE FORKS FOR THE CREATIVE FARE AT 5CHURCH BUCKHEAD!A confession: Oysters are not my thing. My husband craves them, yet for some reason he refuses to order a starter of even six oysters without my promise to eat at least one. That has always been more than enough for me until I tried them at 5Church Buckhead. I had two. I could have eaten all six. I’d order them again without hesitation, a small miracle.

The artful presentations advertise the robust layers of aromas and flavors packed into each creation. Oaxaca uses familiar ingredients in its dishes that are rooted in the indigenous culinary traditions of Oaxaca, Mexico, one of its country’s top foodie destinations.

By Hope S. PhilbrickWhen time is short but your need for sea and sand cannot be ignored, Celebrity Cruises has the answer. Celebrity’s Reflection and Summit ships are now both offering three- and four-night sailings for the first time this summer. My husband and I recently enjoyed a three-night getaway aboard Celebrity Reflection, departing from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. From our home base in Atlanta, Georgia, we could have driven down to Florida, but flew to save even more time.
