PARKSVILE — An extended power outage will inconvenience hundreds of people in downtown Parksville as BC Hydro crews conduct scheduled underground utility work. The planned outage impacts 310 BC Hydro customers on Wednesday, May 7 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. according to Ted Olynyk, BC Hydro’s Vancouver Island community relations manager. The 20th anniversary of the Vancouver Island Short Film Festival (VISFF) takes place Thursday, May 1 to Saturday, May 3 at VIU’s Malaspina Theatre, and also streaming online. VISFF president Johnny Blakeborough and local filmmaker John Gardiner wanted to create a short film specific showcase, which they felt was an under-represented genre in the film festival circuit.
