    MOORHEAD — LinkFM, a free bus service, will no longer be servicing many Moorhead community events. During the Moorhead City Council meeting on Monday, May 12, council members voted unanimously to eliminate LinkFM services to a number of Moorhead events. The MATBUS service gave free rides between downtown Fargo and downtown Moorhead during events such as the Downtown Fargo Street Fair, Celtic Festival and Pangea. Nobody spoke during a public hearing for the agenda item.

    GLYNDON, Minn. — The first signs of spring are emerging on the Bluestem Prairie. Close to the ground, white, yellow and pink flowers are starting to bloom. Some insects float from flower to flower, while an occasional ground squirrel rustles the dry tall grasses. Even early in the year, there’s more to the prairie than meets the eye from afar. As Marissa Ahlering walks through, she said it has been her lifelong work to get people excited about prairies.

    MOORHEAD — A major but fragile source of Moorhead's water lies hidden beneath the ground east of the city: the Buffalo Aquifer. A source of Moorhead’s drinking water, the aquifer has come up as a sticking point in the White Earth Band of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe's proposed resort-casino complex on land east of Moorhead, near the intersection of Interstate 94 and Highway 336. The 280-acre parcel sits atop the Buffalo Aquifer.

    MOORHEAD — A new apartment complex along Main Avenue in Moorhead could begin going up this summer. Developer and architect Kevin Bartram, with RFI2 LLC, plans to construct a new 28-unit apartment building on the corner of Main Avenue and 14th Street in Moorhead. The $5 million apartment facing Main Avenue and Harold’s On Main will have a mix of one, two and three bedroom units, along with 18 garage parking stalls and 25 off-street parking spaces.

    FARGO — City and park district crews postponed the removal of homeless camps along the river due to rainy conditions. Crews were set to clear remaining camps near the Red River river as a ban on camping on city property went into effect on Thursday, May 1. Katie Ettish, a deputy chief communications officer with the city, confirmed the delay for city crews. She said the city plans to take down four camps across two locations. Crews will begin work around 10 a.m. Friday, May 2.
