KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department is tracking celebratory gunfire after the Fourth of July. KCPD data from ShotSpotter tracked 280 rounds of gunfire across 47 ShotSpotter alerts between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Friday. In that same time frame, KCPD received 110 reports of the sound of shots fired. KCPD also says two houses were struck by bullets believed to be tied to celebratory gunfire. One home is in the 1500 block of E.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — After storms swept through the Kansas City area overnight, KSHB 41 News is tracking storm damage. As of 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, Evergy reported 365 outages impacting 10,969 customers. Evergy said crews are working around the clock to restore power, and lightning was a "significant factor" leading to the outages. A fallen tree blocked all three eastbound lanes of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at Agnes Avenue.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — HP Village Management officially finalized its purchase of Kansas City's Country Club Plaza in an announcement Monday morning. The Plaza had been under the ownership of a partnership of Macerich and Taubman Centers since 2016. Terms of HP Village's Plaza purchase were not immediately disclosed. "We are thrilled to be the new stewards of this beloved destination of Kansas City and restoring the jewel of the Midwest," Ray W.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch in the KSHB 41 viewing area until 11 p.m. Saturday. The watch was issued in Linn County, Kansas, and Bates and Henry counties in Missouri. The storm could produce hail and damaging wind gusts, with slim tornado chances.
