CLEVELAND (WJW) – Cleveland City Council is addressing the dramatic increase in so-called smoke shops, unanimously approving four ordinances on Monday night that regulate the businesses. Since the legalization of marijuana in the state of Ohio, smoke shops have sprouted up like weeds in neighborhoods across the city. Since Jan. 1 of this year alone, there have been over 100 applications for city occupancy permits by the operators of smoke shops.

WESTLAKE, Ohio (WJW) — A man is custody after a woman woke up Thursday morning to find her house had been vandalized, Westlake police said. Upon arrival to the Westlake home at about 7 a.m., police said they saw the front was “heavily spray painted” with black paint, including the windows and cameras. “An unknown white substance” was also discovered in the gas tank of the car in the driveway, which police later identified as sugar.

PARMA, Ohio (WJW) – Parma police said a Cleveland man allegedly stole a French bulldog that escaped from its owner and then tried to collect a reward for the dog’s safe return. The story began to unfold on Saturday when the owner of two French bulldogs named Watson and Chloe discovered they escaped from his fenced in yard after a contractor left the gate unlatched. “Oh, when I lost both of them, it was like I lost my kids,” the pet owner, who asked that he not be identified, told FOX 8 on Tuesday.
