Pharmacists across Ireland are spending a record amount of time managing medicine shortages, according to a survey carried out by the Irish Pharmacy Union (IPU). The IPU said the medicine shortages, largely driven by demand for treatments such as hormone replacement therapy, GLP-1 agonists for weight loss such as Ozempic and treatments for ADHD, are increasingly negatively affecting patient outcomes.

A Dublin tenant who allegedly sent “threatening” voice notes to his landlords warning them not to come to the property, has been ordered to pay €32,600 in rent arrears and damages. A Residential Tenancies Board tribunal heard claims from landlords Anthony Delaney and Damien Chaney that their tenant, Gavin Carey, often did not pay rent “at all”.

RTÉ has said it has received a commitment from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to have a “wider discussion amongst members” concerning Israel’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. It comes after the national broadcaster’s director general, Kevin Bakhurst, sought a discussion on Israel’s inclusion with the EBU, which organises Eurovision. He had said he was “appalled” by the ongoing events in the Middle East and the “horrific impact on civilians in Gaza”.

A Dublin man who died from severe injuries to his face, neck and head following an assault in prison had to be identified by fingerprint and palm analysis, an inquest has heard. Martin Salinger, a 43-year-old horse and carriage driver originally from The Liberties in Dublin, had been on remand in Cloverhill Prison, having been charged two months before his death in connection with drugs and firearms offences.

A Donegal landlord who terminated the tenancy of a family of seven, claiming his daughter required the home to live in, has been ordered to pay €15,000 in damages after a tribunal heard she never moved in full-time but only stayed at the property “for weekends regularly”. A Residential Tenancies Board tribunal described as “profound” the consequences suffered by Claire Friel and her family who resorted to living in two separate mobile homes after their tenancy was terminated.
