    Thousands came out Wednesday evening to honor the four girls killed when a car plowed through an after-school camp building in downstate Chatham, Illinois, earlier this week. Friends, family, and supporters filled the stands for the student-organized vigil at Glenwood High School in Chatham, in central Illinois just south of Springfield. State police were called to YNOT Outdoors Summer and After School camp at about 3:20 p.m. Monday when a car crashed into the east side of the building.

    A Chicago Police officer left their service weapon in a restroom at the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse on Thursday, CBS News Chicago has learned. The Cook County Sheriff's office reported that shortly after 10 a.m., its deputies found a gun in a women's bathroom on the sixth floor of the courthouse. Sheriff's deputies took the weapon, quickly identified the officer it belonged to — who was still in the courthouse — and gave the gun back.

    An Indiana woman continues to recover as part of her incredible story of survival, having spent six days trapped in her crumpled car following a wreck. A photo released Thursday shows Brieonna Cassell, 41, in her hospital bed, with a friend at her side. She is bruised and bandageed up, but appears to be in good spirits. Cassell's mother, Kim Brown, said her daughter was set to have surgery Thursday – as there was some concern with the healing of her legs.
