BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — A non-profit partnered with Boardman Junior High School to help those fighting cancer. It’s called a “Blessed Bag,” and it holds many items to help those going through chemo. About 20 students filled a classroom inside Boardman Junior High, working to fill “Blessed Bags.”“Such as hand-knitted hats. When you lose your hair, the chemo patients will get a hat. We have pillows for when they get tired in the chair.

LISBON, Ohio (WKBN) — Lisbon Village Council met again Tuesday night to discuss a proposed ordinance for rental properties. WKBN first reported on the ordinance last Tuesday. While there was a lot of discussion, some on the council think they need to review an already existing ordinance. Residents and landlords in Lisbon spoke to the council about a proposed ordinance that would allow for a housing inspector to come inside rental properties to make sure they’re up to standards.

LISBON, Ohio (WKBN) — Lisbon is looking to bring a fireworks show to the village for an Independence Day celebration. The Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce says it’s been years since the village had one but they need help from the public. Fireworks on or around the Fourth of July are pretty common. Many communities host their own fireworks show and Lisbon would like to as well. “Because we don’t have one in Lisbon. We haven’t had one in Lisbon for many, many years.

LISBON, Ohio (WKBN) — Lisbon’s committee met Tuesday night to discuss a proposed ordinance about rental properties. Lisbon Mayor Pete Wilson met with the committee as a whole to bring a proposed ordinance to address issues with some of the rental properties in the village. It would require landlords to have their homes kept up with certain minimum standards. “Something needs to be done and for seven years, I’ve been fighting for this and I think it’s time to take action,” Wilson said.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A few Austintown residents are still concerned over the proposed roundabout from the Ohio Department of Transportation. It would be at the intersection of State Route 46 and New Road. The project isn’t set to start until next year, but a committee of residents has worked to propose an alternative plan for the area.
