At approximately 11:40 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 1893, people across southern California were unsettled by a sudden shock of movement beneath their feet. Residents in San Bernardino and San Diego felt only a slight tremble, but the people of the Santa Clarita Valley and the early communities of Saugus and Mentryville had a far more terrifying experience. The oil boom town of Mentryville in Pico Canyon, near modern-day Stevenson ranch, was most heavily impacted.

Dayle Robertson, later changed to the more common spelling for his stage name, was born on July 14, 1923, in Harrah, Oklahoma. As he grew older, his family moved to Oklahoma City in 1927 where Robertson graduated from Classen High School. He then attended Oklahoma Military College (now Rogers State University) in Claremore, where he was named best all-around athlete and earned 32 athletic awards.

The suspect targeted teenagers in multiple communities, including Santa Clarita.

In light of this new industry, Griffith’s “Ramona” is the first film known to have been shot in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Bianco emphasized his 32-year law enforcement experience, including leading the second-largest sheriff’s office in the state. “For 32 years now, I’ve been representing Riverside County and keeping them safe, protecting them, providing that service to them, and then the last six as the Sheriff (…) I’m the second largest sheriff’s office in the state and the fourth in the country, $1.2 billion budget, with 4,400 employees,” Bianco said.
