While it’s often easy to be frustrated while waiting in line, it’s also a good time to “Bee Kind.”I witnessed a great act of kindness at the Kirkwood Walgreens. I was standing at the cash register, and I was third in line. The person checking out was having trouble with her credit card. The Walgreens employee, who is always so kind and patient, tried to help figure out the problem.

The city of Glendale is asking voters on April 8 to consider Prop S — an $18.18 million bond issue to improve streets, sidewalks and stormwater systems over the next five years. If passed, the estimated cost to homeowners would be 35 cents per $1,000 of assessed property valuation. For a home with a market value of $300,000, that equates to roughly $199.50 a year, or $16.63 a month, according to the city of Glendale.

Former St. Louis County police officer Matthew McCulloch was sentenced Thursday, March 27, to five years of probation — not prison time — for firing multiple shots at a trunk-or-treat event at a Kirkwood middle school in 2023. Prosecutors had recommended three years in prison for McCulloch — the son of longtime former St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCulloch —but sentencing was left to the discretion of St. Louis County Circuit Court Judge Ellen Ribaudo.

Glendale firefighters made a young boy’s day when they helped him retrieve his drone from a neighbor’s roof. Longtime Glendale resident Rick Kennedy was outside his home in the 1200 block of Brownell on the afternoon of March 10 when a young boy from a block over approached him, asking if he could see if his drone might have landed in his backyard. Kennedy and the boy, Henry, looked in Kennedy’s backyard and searched several other nearby yards without any luck in locating the drone.
