On two nights, and two nights only, every little young’un that went to the drive picture showing in Troy would get a baby Easter chick to take home, to keep. That was more than I could stand. A baby chick of my my own.

Brundidge Police Officer Kenneth Duncan never got to work with Davennport as a member of the Brundidge Police Department but did work with him through the Pike County Sheriff’s Office. “Moses Davenport was a longtime and dedicated community servant,” Duncan said.

Published 7:50 pm Friday, April 18, 2025 Brenda Peacock served the people of Pike County for four terms as circuit clerk. Now, the Needmore resident serves as a servant of the Lord and a longtime supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. “Oh, she’s the one who paints angels,” many will say. After retiring as circuit clerk, Peacock did start paint painting angels with all the dollars and dimes raised going to St. Jude’s in support of the research to find a cure for childhood cancer.

The scholarship recipients will be announced at the club’s meeting on Wednesday, April, 30 at the historic Bass House in downtown Brundidge. Rotarian Don Dickert said this year will be the 32 year the club has awarded scholarships to graduating seniors at local high schools.
