DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - A Dothan church preschool was evacuated Thursday afternoon after a fire sparked up inside the building. First responders were on-scene at Ridgecrest Baptist Church a little after 1:30 p.m. to respond to a fire alarm inside the preschool building on the church campus. Officials on scene confirmed to News4 that a small electric fire had started in one of the light fixtures. Children inside the preschool were all evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported due to this fire.

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTVY) - A Cottondale, Florida man is facing several charges after being found in possession of obscene content involving both children and animals. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation back in February after receiving a tip that 22-year-old James Patrick Boutwell had uploaded child pornography online.

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Dothan Leisure Services announced on Monday that all April 7 games for the 2025 Dothan Diamond Classic have been canceled due to the weather. The yearly area high school softball showcase tournament was set to get underway on Monday at 4:30 p.m. at James Oates Park with Group C and Group D action. DLS said in a brief statement that they will announce an updated bracket with rescheduled games soon on their social media pages.

Before Saturday, Troy had only played in a postseason national tournament championship one other time on the hardwood, back in 1993 when the Trojans men battled for the NCAA Division II title against Cal State-Bakersfield, a game that Troy would lose by 13 to wrap up a historic season.

BLAKELY, Ga. (WTVY) - An investigation is underway after a shooting on Thursday night in Blakely. According to a statement released by Blakely Police Department, officers responded to a shots fired call at a home on Palmetto Avenue at around 10:20 p.m. on April 3. Officers arrived on scene to the home and discovered one victim, a juvenile, having been shot. Several individuals were also seen fleeing from the scene upon arrival by law enforcement.
