The railroad-themed League City Visitor Center will provide visitors to the city and other guests a place to grab souvenirs and brochures along with food and coffee, courtesy of Soulfreak Railroad Cafe. The historic home in which the visitor center is located dates back to the late 1800s and was the residence of the station master of the Galveston, Houston and Henderson Railroad.

Horsepen Bayou is a tributary in the Armand Bayou Watershed. Both Horsepen Bayou and Armand Bayou flow southeast toward Clear Lake, which flows into Galveston Bay and eventually the Gulf of Mexico. During Hurricane Harvey, several homes near Horsepen Bayou took on 20 to 30 inches of water, said Jeremy Ratcliff, Harris County Flood Control District coordinator for Precinct 2.

Work on two of three segments to improve the Mud Gully, or Beamer Ditch, channel in Pearland is now underway. The project will soon offer flood relief in the area. What you need to knowSegment 1 of the project, from Sagedowne Lane to Scarsdale Boulevard, resumed in March and will finish in the spring. The left westbound lane may be closed outside of regular working hours to allow for waterline repairs, according to a Harris County Flood Control District news release.

A three-month project to improve El Dorado Boulevard’s road surface is on the cusp of completion, with the road now open to motorists. The gistAt the end of August, workers began replacing concrete panels along El Dorado between Torry Pines Road and Sea Lark Road in Clear Lake. Several panels had deteriorated and needed to be replaced to improve road quality, said Jessica Beemer—chief of staff for Dave Martin, Houston City Council District E member—in an email. The project costs $880,000.
