With 1,320 rental apartments and a host of amenities, 25 Water Street is the country's largest office-to-residential conversion to date. An office building in the Financial District has ditched cubicles and shed most of its original facade, making way for more than 1,000 new rental apartments and splashy amenities. The building at 25 Water Street, now known as SoMA for South Manhattan, previously housed JPMorganChase, the National Enquirer and the New York Daily News.

A mainstay of photo events in the United States, the review convenes members of the photographic community to share work, exchange ideas, help each other - and have fun. On Sunday April 13, there will be an online orientation session with presentations open to all the photographers attending either day of the review. Topics will include working with photo editors, running a business and negotiating contracts, editing and sequencing your own photos and self-care.

A New York rabbi had asked permission for her congregation to march in the city's annual Salute to Israel Parade up Fifth Avenue. But the rabbi was Sharon Kleinbaum, the new leader of a predominantly gay synagogue. Officials from various Orthodox Jewish organizations were threatening to boycott the event, and the rabbi was getting hate mail. The rabbi brokered a deal with parade organizers, but it fell apart.

The student musicians, dressed in jeans, T-shirts and hooded sweatshirts, were rehearsing an excerpt from "West Side Story" in a high school auditorium one recent afternoon. Then, as the trumpets blared and the timpani went wild, a voice broke out from the conductor's podium. Dudamel, the New York Philharmonic's next music director, paused for a moment, telling the students they needed a more precise rhythm and sound. Then he put his hands in his pockets and swaggered around the stage.
